Mike Mannor (mannor.com), associate professor of management at the University of Notre Dame, is working on a project to create an open source database and community focused on CEO virtues and values. Work is ongoing to gather, clean, analyze, and code a wide set of CEO characteristics for S&P 1500 organizations, with the goal of enabling research and starting conversations about how the personal characteristics of CEOs – those individual differences that define us and make us innately human – influence the strategy and performance of large organizations. As large public organizations are among the most influential forces for good and for ill in the world today, better understanding the influence of top executive leadership has never been more important.
